STEFANO BERTAGNOLI
President and senior researcher in bioprocess, fermentation and biopolymers
He holds a Ph.D in Industrial Biotechnology from University of Milano-Bicocca in 2012. He earned a B.S. in biotechnology for environment and industry from University of Milano. Stefano is responsible of bioprocess development starting from biomass to downstream of Galatea’s compounds. He is expert in specialty fermentation and in Biopolymer production and processing. He has more than 10 years of experience in different operative roles in industries like Sanofi-Aventis, Neocolor, Adamoli and since 2017 in Galatea Biotech. Furthermore, he has R&D experience gained working as technical advisor on biotech projects for the university of Milano-Bicocca.

EMILIO SASSONE CORSI
CEO
Graduated in Physics with Cybernetic specialization in Naples, he has thirty years management experience in the ICT world; during his career he has worked nationally and internationally. Since 2008 he is the head of Management Innovation Srl, a company that scouts innovative technologies and invests in seed capital. He is CEO of Glass to Power SpA, Crypt Security Srl and is president of Sidereus Space Dynamics Srl. He is professor of innovation economics at the universities of Rome Tor Vergata and International Studies of Rome.

PAOLA BRANDUARDI
Scientific Manager and Co-Founder
Paola Branduardi, full professor in Chemistry of Fermentation and Industrial Microbiology at the University of Milano Bicocca. Her research aims at the development of sustainable microbial-based bioprocesses, mainly valorizing residual biomasses as in the concept of biorefineries. Synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, flow cytometry, screening protocols and adaptive laboratory evolution are the approaches used to leverage microbial potential, including robustness against stress, to match industrial requirements. These are the expertise that she brought in Galatea BioTech srl from its foundation, and she is now expanding towards the production of bio-based biodegradable materials thanks to microbial fermentations.

DANILO PORRO
Co-Founder
Since 2002, Full Professor of Industrial Microbiology and Chemistry Fermentation at the University of Milano Bicocca, Milan, Italy. 2003-2019: Vice-Rector for the Exploitation of the Research at the University of Milano Bicocca. 2001-2018: Senator at the University of Milano Bicocca. He has developed, patented and licensed the technology for production and secretion of heterologous proteins, lactic acid, ascorbic acid and for the selection of mutant strains overproducing organic acids. Engaged in the promotion of Industrial biotechnology for the Italian and European Bioeconomy.

ADELE SASSELLA
Co-Founder
Full Professor of Experimental Physics at University of Milano – Bicocca. Her research is mainly focused on the growth and study of thin films of molecular materials interesting as organic semiconductors for device applications. In Galatea Bio Tech she is sharing her expertise in the charaterization and study of the physical properties of materials.

OCTAVIO SANTALUCIA
Board of Directors Member
Entrepreneur, with experience in innovative industry related to the manufacturing industry in mechanical transmission systems. He has different executive roles in companies by him founded or administered.

LAURA BARBIERO
Board of Directors Member
Graduated in Economics at the University of Insubria in Varese. She has worked in administration, finance and management control in some companies operating in different sectors, including listed holding companies, Information and Communication Technology and television.

MASSIMILIANO RIVA
Board of Directors Member
Graduated in Information Science at the University of Milan. He obtained a Master in Business Administration at the Management School Company of the Bocconi University of Milan. He recently holds a Master in Data Science for economics business and finance from the University of Milan. Founder and owner of INTERLEM (http://www.interlem.it/)(2002) a company operating in the ICT & Digital Transformation sector. He is member of the General Council of Assolombarda (https://www.assolombarda.it/) and currently holds the position of President of Assolombarda for the North Milan area. In this position, he promoted a significant strategic territorial planning initiative and definition of the “North Milan 2030” Economic Agenda, shared with the municipal administrations of the territory and with various public and private stakeholders (Lombardy Region, Metropolitan City, Companies, Schools and Universities). He has been and is President and board member of companies operating in energy infrastructures, financial services and multiutilities.

DAVIDE SALA PEUP

Graduated in Accounting, Corporate Finance and Control at Bocconi University of Milan, after a brief experience in PwC he joined ATHENA Professionisti e Consulenti Associati about 10 years ago. He mainly works as advisor in the context of M&A and business valuation engagements. Chartered Accountand and Auditor. He is member of corporate bodies of companies and institutions operating in different industries, such as: bioplastics, hospital management & nursing homes, gaming & betting, industrial automation, information technology.

LAURA GIARETTA
Senior researcher in molecular biology
She holds a PhD in Bioscience and Industrial Biotechnology gained at the University of Padua and a MS degree in Industrial Biotechnology. She has research experience in molecular biology and in the production of recombinant proteins. In Galatea Bio Tech she works in engineering of microorganisms, biochemistry of proteins and metabolic engineering.

STEFANO RAMPOLDI
Junior researcher
He holds a MS degree in Industrial Biotechnology with experience in fermentative process and mycology. In his MS thesis he conducted research in the field of bioremediation using bioluminescnece for monitoring drinkable water and wastewater samples. In Galatea Bio Tech he is currently working on fermentative growth optimization of microorganisms, in particular of filamentous fungi.
